Đọc sách là nếp sống, là một nét đẹp văn hóa và là nguồn sống bất diệt. Việc đọc cũng giống như việc học. Có đọc, có học thì mới có nhân. Thói quen đọc sách chỉ được hình thành và duy trì khi chữ tâm và sách hòa quện làm một. Người đọc sách là người biết yêu thương bản thân mình và là người biết trân trọng cuộc sống. Việc đọc một cuốn sách có đem lại cho bạn lợi ích hay không, phụ thuộc vào thái độ và tâm thế của bạn khi đọc.

    UNIT 1: FAMILY LIFE
    Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED

    I. OBJECTIVES:
    By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to
    - understand new language through a conversation about doing household chores.
    - develop communication skills.
    - be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.
    - actively join in class activities.
    - be aware of responsibilities towards family.
    II. LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE:
    - Vocabulary: vocabulary to talk about household chores: household chores, breadwinner,
    homemaker, shop for groceries, do the heavy lifting, do the laundry, put out the rubbish, do the
    washing up.
    - Grammar: Simple Present and Present Continuous
    - Pronunciation: consonants blends /br/, /kr/, /tr/
    III. INSTRUCTION RESOURCES: Grade 10 textbook, computers.
    IV. PROCEDURES:
    Teacher and students' activities
    Contents
    Activity 1 ( 5mins)
    -T asks ss some questions:
    1. Who often does the housework in your family?
    2. Do you often share the housework?
    3. If yes, what do you often do?
    -T invites some Ss to answer the questions.
    -T introduces the lesson: “We'll listen and read a
    conversation about two people, Nam and Minh.
    They're talking about sharing the housework or the
    household chores in their family.
    Activity 2 ( 6mins)
    -T asks students to read the conversation quickly.
    -T gets ss to listen and observe his actions.
    - T takes roles of 2 characters in the conversation,
    using real objects, pictures, and actions to help ss
    understand the conversation.
    - T repeated his actions once or twice.

    Activity 3 ( 10mins)
    -T asks Ss to work individually to read the T/F
    statements and read through the conversation to
    find the answers.
    - Ss do Activity 2 individually first.
    Then they discuss their answers in pairs.
    -T invites some Ss to share their answers and give
    reasons for their choices.

    Activity 4 ( 6mins)
    - T has Ss locate the verbs or phrasal verbs in the
    conversation, find the nouns or noun phrases after
    each verb/ phrasal verb to do the matching.
    - Ss work individually.
    - Ss share their answers with a partner.
    - T checks and gives the correct answers with the
    whole class, and has them say the meaning of each
    collocation.

    Read the conversation and decide whether the
    following statements are true (T) or false (F). (p.9)
    1. Nam's mother is cooking now.
    2. Everybody in Nam's family does some of the
    housework.
    3. The children in Minh's family don't have to do
    any housework
    4. Nam does the heavy lifting in his family

    A. WARM-UP
    GAME: Guess the words ( 5mins)
    - T gives instructions:
    • There are 8 pictures related to the topic “Family life”.
    • Ss have 5 seconds to think, then guess the word
    corresponding to the picture.

    - T counts the points, decides the winner”
    and leads in the lesson:” Today we'll learn how to
    pronounce the consonant blends /br/, /kr/, /tr/,how to use
    the vocabulary related to Family life and the Simple

    daily routines and what you are doing now

    - T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen to the words
    and repeat; tell them to pay attention to the consonant
    blends. (T can play the recording as many times as
    necessary)
    - T explains how to pronounce the consonant blends
    - Teacher checks whether Ss have improved their
    pronunciation by randomly calling on individual - Ss do as
    instructed
    Ss read the words aloud.
    ACTIVITY 2: LISTEN TO THE SENTENCES AND
    CIRCLE THE WORDS YOU HEAR. (p.9) ( 5mins)
    - T asks Ss to read all the words once, paying attention to
    the different consonant blends in the words in each group.
    - T plays the recording for Ss to listen and circle the words
    with the consonant blends they hear.
    - T has Ss work in pairs to compare their answers; checks
    answers by asking individual Ss to read out the words they
    have circled.
    - T plays the recording again, pausing after each sentence,
    for Ss to repeat.
    - Ss do as instructed.
    - Ss practise reading the sentences in pairs
    - T goes round to offer help and collect common mistakes to
    correct as a class.

    ACTIVITY 1: MATCH THE WORDS WITH THEIR

    - T gives Ss clear instructions.
    - Ss work in pairs to discuss and do the matching.

    should use the context clues to decide on the word /
    phrase, e.g. 'my mother' in sentence 1 refers to a person.
    - T checks answers as a class, then has Ss call out the word
    they have used in each sentence first.
    - T confirms the correct answers. T asks Ss to give reasons
    why they have chosen the word for each sentence, e.g. what
    context clues they have used.
    - T asks some Ss to read the complete sentences.
    - Ss work in pairs to discuss and find the answers.
    - Ss share the answers with the whole class.
